030 August Favourites. (& where have I been?!)

Hey Belles! Long time no see! I know its been forever since I last updated, I definitely haven't lost the love for Blush & Belle, not at all! My passion for blogging is still massively high, the last few months have been a really tough ride for me, I got really sick in a really short amount of time and had to take some time away from everything to recuperate and recover. I'm glad to say I'm on the road to recovery now and feeling far more like myself! I have lots of big plans for Blush & Belle, so look forward to lots of updates!

I've been a little kinder to myself when it comes to spending this month, I've had a few naughty treats, here's what I'm really loving at the moment...

I really love beauty oils, I've tried a fair few of these now and I have to say this is my absolute favourite at the moment, It smells utterly divine and makes your skin feel so so so soft, even the Mr noticed how silky soft my legs were (and we all know what men are like!). I was really enjoying the Palmers Cocoa Butter oil, but wasn't too keen on smelling like chocolate all the time so this is the perfect alternative. The scent is really soft and feminine and the oil itself is really easy to blend into the skin, I always apply after I've had a bath for some extra moisture, instead of using a body butter or regular moisturiser. I'd most definitely recommend!

As you all know, I love Soap & Glory, I don't think my love affair will ever end with this beauty of a brand! I'm not sure if I'm the only one that gets this.. but in the summer I tend to wear flip flops most of the time and I find that my heels get so dry and really cracked, they don't look pretty and certainly don't feel it. I was looking for a cream that would help to heal my heels and you can imagine my delight when I stumbled upon this gem! I put it on after a bath, as directed, it does say to wear socks overnight, but its way too hot for that.. my heels were so soft! You could feel the difference almost straight away. I love the gel like consistency, it's not too sticky and doesn't make your feet feel all clammy and gross when you're trying to sleep, it just soaks in and gets to work. I don't think I could be without this anymore! Love love love.

I'm a total sucker for anything that smells remotely nice, I really loved the original Jimmy Choo fragrance and this exotic twist is just as beautiful, I would have liked to have seen a different bottle to the original one, as this one is identical, just a different colour. But it smells utterly gorgeous, its a really summery, fruity fragrance that I just can't get enough of. If you liked the original Jimmy Choo perfume, you're bound to like this. Its a really fresh scent and dare I say... sexy! Perhaps quite heavy for a daytime fragrance, but perfect for evenings out.

Having used the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser for a while now, it seemed only natural to buy the Skin Tonic and use them together. I'm so glad I did, at first thought I did find the Skin Tonic smelled really lavendery (is that a word?!)... and I did think it was quite a mature scent, containing chamomile and cucumber, along with some vitamin E, its so refreshing on the skin. It felt really luxurious to apply and made my skin feel really refreshed and clean after applying. I'm yet to find another toner that I love as much as this, its a must buy if you love the Liz Earle Cleansers!

I know I'm a little late jumping on the Creme Cup bandwagon, I don't have a massive collection of lipstick, I tend to play it safe and I'm not very brave when it comes to trying new lip shades! With pale skin and blonde hair, I never know what to go for, I always seem to think bold colours make me look really washed out and just ridiculous. I'd seen Creme Cup on a few other blogs and all over instagram and decided to give it a try. I have a few other Mac lipsticks and found them quite dry, but the Cremesheen is really smooth and gives a lovely gloss to lips. Its a gorgeous shade, for daytime and evening wear, a really pretty, feminine dusky pink. I think its a definite must have for any girls lipstick collection!

This was a little treat for myself, I tend to go for luxury brands when buying products like mascara, as it's something I use every day without fail. This is my first YSL mascara, so I can't compare it to any of their existing ones. The Baby Doll brush is rubber, with two patents and is a revolutionary mix of wide-set bristles intermixed with finer ones, for superior definition. The application is really precise and I found that I didn't really get any mess or smudges, I really loved the rubber wand, it felt nice and sturdy and I think it made applying a little easier, my lashes were definitely longer and the colour was really intense. It lasted all day and I was really impressed that it didn't run all down my face, even after a few good cries! I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for something new to try. I'd definitely re-buy, but not after trying their Shocking mascara!

What are you all loving at the moment? What products can you simply not live without in the summer?

Lots of love

Hey Belles! The amazing Harriet from The Beauty Swatch has nominated me for the Leibster Award! This is Blush & Belle's very first award nomination since starting and I feel absolutely everwhelmed and excited!

If you've not heard of the Leibster Award, I know what you're thinking, what on earth is a 'Leibster'? Leibster is a German word meaning; sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. Cute hey? Blogging is all about building a community & its an amazing way to connect with other bloggers & spread the word about new blogs.

Here are the rules:

  • Each nominee should answer 11 questions from the person who nominated them
  • Choose 11 bloggers with under 200 followers to pass the award to and link them in your post
  • Tell them about their nomination
  • No tag backs

Questions from The Beauty Swatch:

Fake tan or pale until the sun comes out?
Pale until the sun comes out! I don't tan naturally I just go pink, I've tried faux tanning but I just go kind of orange!

What is your favourite unknown clothing/accessory online shop?
I'm not sure how well known it is but I really love Pretty Little Thing they have some really cute pieces & its really affordable!

If you could only buy from one brand for the rest of your life for beauty products
 which would it be?
I'd have to say Mac! I don't think I could ever tire of their products!

What do you do to get in shape for the summer?
I try and do some running when I can, but my main form of exercise is pole dance. I started it two years ago and love it. Its so much fun & an amazing way to work every muscle in your body!

Favourite brand of nail varnish?
Its close between Barry M and Essie, I really love Barry M's Gelly polishes, the shades are beautiful and they're really long lasting and chip resistant, I'm gonna have to go with Essie though!
Why did you start blogging?
I've always loved reading blogs and I've always really excelled at writing too, along with my passion for beauty products & for fashion, it just seemed to click. I started Blush & Belle in January 2013 and I've never looked back!
Who inspires you in your own personal style?
Celebrity wise, I love Mollie King from the Saturdays, her style is impeccable! She always looks amazing. I love Blake Livelys super chic, classy look and I really admire Miranda Kerr because she always looks absolutely stunning! I think Olivia from What Olivia Did always looks utterly amazing too!

What's your 'can't be bothered' every day hair style? Post a link to a youtube vid
 if you have one!
 Unbrushed, dry shampooed. Enough said!

What part of your body do you like the most? Come on gals lets be positive!
My super long legs! I'd like them to be more toned, but they definitely win for their length!
Where is your favourite place to be?
The countryside, I'm a total country bumpkin!

What is on your wish list right now?
I really want to treat myself to some new perfume as my Chanel Coco Mademoiselle has just run out! I'm thinking Chloe or Miss Dior. I'm really craving the Liz Earle moisturiser too, I love her products, they feel so absolutely amazing! I love the Clarins Lip Protection too! I'm also craving lots of summery dresses & floral prints!

I haven't quite found 11 blogs. Actually, I've found 4. 4 that I really love reading & I didn't want to pick loads of blogs for the sake of it.. So I'm nominating:

028 Style Icon : Suki Waterhouse

Hey Belles! Another week, another Style Icon, this week I've chosen the ever beautiful Suki Waterhouse, British born model Suki, has utterly amazing style and with friends like Cara Delevingne & Georgia May Jagger, you can't really go wrong. Uber-cool Suki has an amazing eclectic style that oozes 60's inspired sophistication, she's fearless in her fashion choices & it definitely pays off!

I absolutely adore Suki's off duty style and effortless red carpet looks, she just doesn't get it wrong. And she's definitely rocking the bold eyebrow/light hair look! Serious brow-envy/girl-crushing over here!

I'm loving the leather jacket and tartan dress combo, Suki looks uber-cool and uber-stylish. And where to start with the cut-out top and bed hair? She's miles ahead of the fashion trends! This girl is going places... and with Bradley Cooper on her arm.. definitely not jealous. Nope.

Who's style are you currently crushing on?

027 Review : Good Things Five Minute Facial Face Mask

Hey Belles! Long time no see! I've had a little stint in hospital this week but I'm home recovering now and spending a little time relaxing! Hope everyone is feeling fabulous, Friday is finally here & we can all relax!

As some of you might know, I LOVE face masks. I don't know why. I just do. I love being able to pop them on and jump in the bath, rinse it off and have super soft silky skin. They're just the perfect ingredient to a lovely little pamper evening.

When I came across this little beauty in my local Sainsburys, I couldn't resist, I was really drawn to the cute packaging, such a sucker for anything that looks remotely adorable! And five minutes is just perfect for me, when you're rushing about before the school run or before work, its great just to be able to whack it on, have breakfast and wash it off again.

So, whats in it? This mask contains green clay & kaolin which is made to bring out any impurities from your skin, avocado oil to moisturise, goji berry extract to soothe your skin & willow bark for extra radiance.

I love the consistency of this mask, although its quite thick when you squeeze it out of the tube, it dries really nicely and really quickly on the skin, I've found with other clay masks that when they dry they feel really stiff and start to crack but thats something you don't get with the Good Things mask. Plus, it smells divine, seriously good! It's got quite a strong scent to it but its so delicious, definitely good enough to eat!

When I use this, I always cleanse my face first and then apply it. After five minutes you can use a warm flannel to rinse it off, it comes off really really easily and doesn't leave any residue on your face which can be really hard to budge! After use, my skin felt amazingly soft and looked really clear and smooth. It brightened my skin and took away the little redness that I had. It definitely does as it claims! Plus its vegetarian and vegan friendly too! The only downfall was that it wasn't as moisturising as I would've liked, my skin smelt beautiful and felt lovely & soft, but also quite dry. I'm not sure if anyone else has found this with this particular mask!

It's a definite re-purchase, retailing at £5.99 from Sainsburys, Boots & Superdrug, its certainly worth its price tag! (I believe the Good Things range is half price in Sainsburys at the moment too, go, go go!)

Has anyone tried any other products from the Good Things range? What did you think?

026 Primers : Mac vs Rimmel

Hey lovelies! Primers are one of the staple products in my make-up bag and for the last couple of months I've been torn between two utterly amazing ones..

I actually spotted this Rimmel Primer on someones Instagram feed! I'd never seen it or heard of it before but I popped along to Boots to buy it anyway, I'd been using the same primer for a while and fancied a refresh. It claims to Smooth, Resurface, Brighten, Mattify & Protect the skin. I found that it was really moisturising and blended beautifully into my skin after using my regular moisturiser. It did make applying foundation much easier and it definitely made my skin appear smoother. I don't suffer with oily skin so I'm not sure if mattifies at all! I'd love to hear from anyone else who's used it?! I did really love it and its definitely a product I'd repurchase again and again! I think you really get your moneys' worth here, I use it with Mac Matchmaster Foundation and its amazing.

Some of you may have seen this little beauty on my Birthday Wishlist post & again on my Birthday favourites post, I was pining for this for ages & ages, I absolutely adore Mac products and am yet to find something that I don't get on with. Their foundations are the only ones I can get away with wearing that don't make me look orange (I'm ridiculously pale!) or cakey. I figured the Mac Primer would be the best one to use along with their foundation. And I love that it has a pump. Am I the only one who loves beauty products with pumps?! Amazing. It claims to even out skin redness, blot away excess oil and improve the laydown of foundation. In all honesty, it was good. But not great. I much prefer the Rimmel Primer, my foundation didn't quite sit as well on this primer as it did with the Rimmel one.

Left Swatch - Rimmel Match Perfection. Right Swatch - Mac Prep and Prime.
 Right photo - Couldn't resist!

I think if you're looking for something that's going to smooth out your skin before you apply foundation, the Rimmel Match Perfection is the way to go, it smells gorgeous & the texture is nice & creamy. If you're looking purely for a base, I'd opt for the Mac Prep & Prime, which had a bit of a stiffer texture. Although I did find that the Mac Prep & Prime did a better job on any skin redness.

Whats your experience of using either of these primers? Would love to hear what you think of them!

lots of love
