038 : Lifestyle // Creative Gift Wrap

Hey Belles! With Christmas drawing ever closer (three sleeps to go!) - its time to finish off those last little bits of shopping, if you haven't already! And start wrapping! I'm one of those people that absolutely loves to wrap presents, I think I prefer wrapping to shopping! I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to wrapping presents, they have to look beautiful! When lacking a bit of creativity though, I turn to the ever beloved Pinterest to pull together some ideas, hopefully this can inspire some of you too!

For me, this year is all about the neutrals, lots of kraft paper and natural accessories make beautiful gifts, with a pop of colour for little ones. Christmas wrap doesn't have to be expensive, handmade wrap looks gorgeous and makes those gifts that extra bit special!

How will you be wrapping your gifts this year?

Lots of love

037 : Last Minute Christmas Gift Guide 2013

Aloha Belles & Beaus! Despite feeling unusually festive, I have to say, I despise Christmas shopping, I love it from the comfort of my bed, but venturing outside when its cold, busy, everybody gets in the way & don't even get me started on the queues. No thank you. I love to wrap, but not to shop. It's less than two weeks until Christmas now & it's when everybody begins to panic that they're yet to find the perfect gift. Panic no more, I've got it covered! I've spent the last week or so putting together the perfect gift guides for your bff's, bf's, mums, dads, grandmas, grandpas.. you name it! The hard work has been done for you, there's nothing better than giving (and receiving of course!) a thoughtful gift to someone you love.

(Pyjamas, Philosophy Cookie Exchange Gift Set, Heart Print Slippers, Charbonnel Pink Champagne Truffles, Lush Candy Box, Bare Minerals Obsessed With Pink Gift Set, Bobbi Brown Everyday Lip & Eye Palette, Cath Kidston Aubrey Rose iPad case, Accessorize earring set, Bambi Necklace)

I adore everything on this list, I really love the little bambi necklace, a definite favourite and at £6 - such a steal! With all of it being affordable & so utterly cute, you can't really go wrong, who doesn't love Lush?! The scent of opening a Lush gift set is just divine. Plus, which girl could say no to those beautiful floral pj's?! I don't think I'd ever leave my bed...ever.

(Cath Kidston Garden Rose Day Bag, John Lewis Bathrobe, Zara embroidered Scarf, Afternoon Tea for Two, Laura Mercier Travel Quartet, Clarins All About Lips Collection, Leather Gloves, Liz Earle Candle, What Katie Ate, Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Hand & Body Wash, Next Pyjamas, Hotel Chocolat Pink Collection)

For the important ladies in your life, mama's, sisters, grandmothers.. I've picked something for everyone. From the sophisticated Zara embroidered scarf, in a gorgeous neutral tone, to the John Lewis dressing gown (comes in purple & red too!) - Since being an adult, I've not owned a dressing gown, the last time I wore one was 6 years ago on the hospital ward after having Alfie, all these years on, I'm pining for one to keep me nice & cosy in the winter evenings! Over the super-cute pyjamas from Next, heaven. Liz Earle candle burning.. utter bliss!

(Tartan Lambswool Scarf, Sennheiser/Adidas Ear-headphones, Origins Man Travel Buddies set, Beer Soap, Worldwide Beer Collection, Philips SensoTouch Electric Shaver, Tweed iPad Cover, Channel 4 News Team Mug, Stag Watch)

I've tried to include something for every kind of man here, from the guys that like their grooming products, the tech fans & the trendy lads, there's a bit of something for everyone. Although I will admit, I am in love with the Topman watch, wish it was a little more girly, I'd definitely buy one for myself! Anchorman is an all time favourite, the mug is a great little stocking filler for those wishing they were Ron Burgundys sidekick. I got my Mr an electric shaver last year and he really loved it, it's one of those things worth spending a bit of extra dollar on if you know it'll be used all the time :)

(LSA Vase, Charbonnel Boozy Box, Easy Tasty Magic Alchemical Larder, Chalk & Cheese serving set, Next Little House Lamp, ReWined Candle, Emma Bridgewater Mugs, Diptyque Candle Trio, Emma Bridgewater Polka Dot Mug Candles)

While I think men are definitely tough to buy for, I think couples are harder. Whether they're newlyweds or have been together a lifetime, it's always difficult to find something both parties are going to enjoy. There's more house wares here and a few bits for those who like to entertain, I really like the cheese serving set, I love that it comes with a little piece of chalk so you can write which cheeses to choose, or just a cute love note to the significant other! My favourites have to be the Emma Bridgewater candle mugs, I love her prints and think these candles would look so beautiful & add a really cosy feel to any home. I'd love to see these in her heart print though! & the boozy Charbonnel selection.. definitely no bickering over the chocolate there!

I hope these have helped a few of you with some ideas! Have fun shopping!

Lots of love

036 : Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre

Hey Belles! Winter is most definitely here & I thought I'd treat you all to a little lifestyle post. Over the weekend, the Mr and I decided to pop along to the annual Christmas Fayre in my local town of Bury St Edmunds, every year, the usually sleepy town attracts thousands of people to the third largest Christmas market in the UK, who like us, couldn't resist the festive charm & spirit. With handmade trinkets & treasures, more sweets than you can shake a stick at, old fairground rides & games and of course mulled wine & hot chestnuts, its hard to say no. What better way to start feeling the festivities!

For the young ones, the magic of Christmas is brought alive with real reindeers in the park, Santa's post office - where you can post your letter to Santa, face painting, a story telling tent, the vintage carousel & beautiful lights adorning the streets. But its not just for kids, for the grown ups theres enough mulled wine & hot cider to get you merry and keep you there for a good few days, a huge variety of hot food, from duck wraps, hot donuts, continental cheeses & sausages, carvery rolls, hot chestnuts, fudge.. you name it. Loads of local wines and beers from the brewerys and micro-brewerys around the area, its the perfect place to find a gift for the foodie in your life. And of course, gourmet coffees and delicious hot chocolates to keep those who were driving nice & toasty throughout the evening!

I really love walking around Christmas Markets, for me, it brings me into reality & really makes me feel super festive. I love seeing everyone wrapped up all cosy in their scarves & mittens and seeing little babies in their toasty little onesies & fur lined boots. The actual market itself was lovely, with everything from jewellery, hand blown glass vases & bowls, carved wooden sculptures, vintage hanging decorations (I had my eye on the sweetest little duck egg blue bird!), clothing, artwork, handmade soaps & smellies & live music to bop along to, I think there was a little bit of something for everyone & was definitely the perfect place to pick up a little treat for yourself, bit of christmas shopping!

I'm most definitely feeling festive now, although I'm yet to start my shopping, I can't wait to start wrapping presents! What gets you in the mood for the festive period? PS - what do you all think of the blog makeover?!

035 : Confessions of a Beauty Blogger

I was recently tagged by the lovely Jules over at Lippy Likes in the 'Confessions of a Beauty Blogger' tag, this is my first tag, so be gentle! I really love reading tags and getting to know bloggers a little better :)

Here are my confessions!

1. How many hours a week do you spend writing / editing posts?
At the moment, way less than I should! I do a lot of note jotting, I have tons of notebooks full of blog plans and ideas, updating Blush & Belle takes around 10 hours a week, including photography & design.

2. Are you a spender or saver?

Oh gosh. I have zero self control when it comes to money! I'm a definite spender. I just can't resist. Shopaholics anonymous is calling my name!

3. When is it easier for you to blog?

My mind is most active in the evening & I have two young boys, so definitely a night owl! I find its when I'm most relaxed too :) any excuse to sit in bed with a hot chocolate!

4. What makes writing behind a computer comfortable for you?

Bed. Hot chocolate. Pillows. Done! Comfort is definitely key for me, I'm not one for sitting at a desk all day!

5. What is your worst make up / hair habit?

Uh oh. I'm quite impatient when it comes to doing my make-up and I'm really lazy slow in the mornings too, so it always takes me forever, when it comes to hair, I straighten the bits I can see and whack a bit of Batiste on it! I barely ever brush my hair & it always looks a bit disheveled!

6. What is one quote you wish the world lived by?
"No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite." - Nelson Mandela

7. How long do you spend getting ready every day?

It takes me around 45 minutes to an hour, which includes skincare, make-up, hair, getting dressed & having some breakfast! I never quite feel satisfied with how I look though, I always look in the mirror before I leave the house and I think I could have made a little more effort!

8. Who's your favourite blogger?
I read so many blogs so its so hard to choose! I adore Zoella just because she's so cute & her personality is addictive, I really love Liv Purvis - her outfits are just divine, and don't get me started on the beehive! Too much love! aaaand Molly from What Molly Loves - she's come so far since starting her blog, I really admire her, and she's so down to earth too!

9. Who is a blogger that you think deserves more subscribers than they have?

Heidi from Blush & Belle?!

10. What is one thing you are excited about in the upcoming year?
Definitely blogging more, so much can change so quickly when you blog, its crazy. I'm determined to put way more time into Blush & Belle.

11. What is your most awkward blogging moment?
At a blogging event in London which I won't name, the event was amazing in itself but there was some guys there eyeing up all of the models and bloggers and going 'WOW' when they walked by, its alright when its subtle but its a little cringe when they're so completely obvious! They were literally burning holes in their arses with their eyes!

12. How long does it take you to prepare a post?

It depends on the post, I'd say an hour to plan, an hour or so to photograph and re-touch images and around an hour or two to write until I'm happy with it!

13. Are you wearing trousers right now or jogging pants / PJ bottoms?
I've just got out of the bath so I'm in Ted Baker pj shorts & a black H&M t-shirt. comfort at its finest!

14. What are you most proud of in life?

It's got to be giving birth to my beautiful little boys, Alfie & Oliver :) aww!

Can't wait to read everyones confessions! Thanks for tagging me Jules! I tag...

034 Review : Origins Clear Improvement Mask

Hey Belles, hope you all had a lovely weekend, I can't believe we're already into November. Where has this year gone?! As you all know, I love face masks, I'm not sure why, I just do. I love feeling pampered and giving my skin a lovely little weekly treat, especially as the winter draws in and my skin begins to feel the effects of the cold.

Origins is a brand I've never really known massive amounts about, but having spent the last year working in a store that has an Origins counter, I've become more familiar with the brand and their products, I'm definitely one for natural skincare, making their products with renewable resources and using recycled materials wherever they can, Origins is a great brand to opt for. You know you're not gonna be putting lots of harsh chemicals onto your skin & there's an option for every skin type.

I know this is a product that's been getting rave reviews around the bloggersphere for a really long time now, I've been busting to try it for ages & ages but really couldn't justify the price tag. I picked it up when Origins were having a 20% off day where I work, and with my staff discount on top, how could I say no?

I've been using the Clear Improvements mask once to twice a week for over a month now and I think I may have fallen in love. It's just beautiful, I open my pores as instructed with a hot flannel on my face and then apply the mask all over, I usually leave it on whilst I'm in the bath, so a good half hour or so, until the mask is set, I then use a clean face cloth soaked in warm water to soak the mask up off my skin. After the first use I noticed that my skin looked a lot fresher and cleaner and felt generally pampered, after another few uses I noticed that it looked glowing, its the perfect product for clogged up pores & generally unhappy skin. My pores definitely appeared a lot smaller and tighter. I don't have a problem with oily skin as mine is more combination, but I have heard from the Origins girls that this is really perfect for oily skin types.

The Clear Improvements mask does contain White China Clay, this absorbs toxins & lifts impurities out of the skin, so a blemish or two after the first few uses definitely isn't uncommon, I noticed a couple of little spots on my chin the next day after using this, but I see it as a sign that all the rubbish has come out! Overall, I really couldn't recommend this enough.

I'm definitely a coveted Origins fan now, next question... What to put on my Christmas list?! What does everyone think of Origins? Fans?

Lots of love

033 : & It Was All Yellow

Hey Belles! Hope everyone had a super weekend, I'm so excited to share with you my very first outfit of the day post! I know most of my posts focus on beauty & reviews, but I figured its time to brave the weather and show you guys what I've been wearing lately. Plus, I never post photos of myself on here, time for a change!

I'm a massive fan of florals, give me florals anyday. When I saw these utterly beautiful trousers I knew I needed them in my life, unfortunately they were sold out in my size online and in all of my local stores, but luckily, Mama Belle came to the rescue and managed to pick some up in her local River Island, much to my delight! Thanks Mum! I wasn't sure what to team with the trousers as they are quite in your face, I decided on a yellow t-shirt which I picked up super cheap in H&M, I got a black long sleeve too for more formal affairs, and my trusty Topshop leather jacket. I really love wearing heels but as the weather as begun to get a little damper and a little brisk, I've put the stilettos away & opted for a classier midi heel. These are super comfy to walk in, theres just something about New Look shoes!
I have to admit, I'm not usually one to wear a watch, mainly because I don't think I've ever owned a really trusty, pretty watch.. and because I'm ridiculously forgetful. I'm really time aware though and a bit of a clock watcher. You can always guarantee I'll be ten minutes early! When the lovely people at The Watch Hut sent me this Casio beauty, I couldn't wait to get it on, I was feeling it was about time to get a new watch and I absolutely adore the gorgeous berry colour, so perfect for autumn/winter. It's lovely and delicate, my teeny wrists can't pull off a massive Michael Kors (which by the way... The Watch Hut stock at amazing prices!) - as much as I would love one! I love a bit of wrist candy!

Here's an OOTD outtake for your viewing pleasure! Belts holding up your boobs is definitely gonna catch on! Hope everyone has a really lovely week, let me know your thoughts on my first OOTD!

032 Review : L'oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Solution

Hey Belles, hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I know I'm slightly late jumping on the Micellar bandwagon, but boy am I glad I did! I picked up the L'oreal version in my local Superdrug, I've been really impressed with L'oreal products over the last year or so, from their face wipes to their cleansers and toners. They definitely haven't disappointed. Micellar waters aren't a product I knew massive amounts about before investing in, I know tonnes of you guys swear by Bioderma, but I'm yet to try it so this isn't going to be a comparison post.. just yet! I have to admit, I wasn't exactly convinced by Micellar waters, I figured that it would just be another type of make-up remover, without any additional benefits.

The L'Oreal Micellar claims to do three things;
- Dissolve make-up
- Unclog pores and remove impurities
- Tone and soothe skin

As you can see, I've used a fair bit of mine now and I have to say, I'm really impressed! I popped a little onto a cotton pad and as instructed, held it onto my eye for a few seconds before wiping away, I absolutely loved that when you wipe away your make-up, it doesn't smear all over your face. Y'know when you're using a face wipe and it looks and feels as though your just kind of moving your make-up around your chops? Yep, we've all been there. Well, this definitely doesn't do that. It's super gentle on your eyes too, it feels like water and doesn't really have a scent so it tends not to irritate. I'm not sure if it unclogged my pores as my pores aren't massively visible anyway, it was soothing on my skin and really lovely to use.

The only qualm I have with this product was that the hole was a tiny bit too big & I always ended up using a little too much, I think theres a bit of a knack to it but I found there was more wastage than I would have liked.

I've incorporated this into my nightly skincare routine by following up with Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish, I think it's absolutely perfect for a two-step cleansing routine, but not a product I would use alone. A definite repurchase though!

Has anyone else tried this? What did you all think?

Lots of love

031 Wednesday Wishlist : Tartan

Hey Belles! I love this time of year, now that summer has tucked itself up in bed for another year, autumn has peeped its little head out of the covers. The best thing about Autumn for me, is being able to wrap up all nice and cosy in the mornings and get all warm & snuggled in the evenings. I love being able to wake up in the morning, not stuck to my duvet covers.. and being able to wear cute little lace socks. Autumn has arrived & I am in love with it.

I was shopping with Mama Belle a couple of weeks ago, and I remember saying to her.. "I really want a Tartan scarf." We searched high and low for one with no luck whatsoever, then low and behold, tartan has appeared everywhere. I really enjoy the summer/autumn wardrobe transition, being able to swap pretty florals for checks and tartans. Its always so refreshing to introduce new prints and styles to accompany the time of year.

1. New Look Tartan Pinafore Playsuit - £22.99
2. ASOS Johnny Loves Rosie Tartan Bow - £16
3. ASOS Portland Platform - £45
4. Primark Chiffon Dress with Collar - £13
5. Miss Selfridge Check Crop Top - £32
6. Miss Selfridge Tartan Bodycon - £37
7. Topshop Tartan Cigarette Trousers - £50
8. Forever 21 Chain Bracelet - £5.65
9. Boohoo Tallulah Skinny Jeans with Tartan Turn-Ups - £25

I am absolutely in love with the Boohoo Tartan turn-ups. So perfect if you're not quite feeling brave enough to wear the full on Tartan cigarette trousers! As you can see, I can't wait to sport a bit of tartan this season!

What prints are you all loving at the moment?

030 August Favourites. (& where have I been?!)

Hey Belles! Long time no see! I know its been forever since I last updated, I definitely haven't lost the love for Blush & Belle, not at all! My passion for blogging is still massively high, the last few months have been a really tough ride for me, I got really sick in a really short amount of time and had to take some time away from everything to recuperate and recover. I'm glad to say I'm on the road to recovery now and feeling far more like myself! I have lots of big plans for Blush & Belle, so look forward to lots of updates!

I've been a little kinder to myself when it comes to spending this month, I've had a few naughty treats, here's what I'm really loving at the moment...

I really love beauty oils, I've tried a fair few of these now and I have to say this is my absolute favourite at the moment, It smells utterly divine and makes your skin feel so so so soft, even the Mr noticed how silky soft my legs were (and we all know what men are like!). I was really enjoying the Palmers Cocoa Butter oil, but wasn't too keen on smelling like chocolate all the time so this is the perfect alternative. The scent is really soft and feminine and the oil itself is really easy to blend into the skin, I always apply after I've had a bath for some extra moisture, instead of using a body butter or regular moisturiser. I'd most definitely recommend!

As you all know, I love Soap & Glory, I don't think my love affair will ever end with this beauty of a brand! I'm not sure if I'm the only one that gets this.. but in the summer I tend to wear flip flops most of the time and I find that my heels get so dry and really cracked, they don't look pretty and certainly don't feel it. I was looking for a cream that would help to heal my heels and you can imagine my delight when I stumbled upon this gem! I put it on after a bath, as directed, it does say to wear socks overnight, but its way too hot for that.. my heels were so soft! You could feel the difference almost straight away. I love the gel like consistency, it's not too sticky and doesn't make your feet feel all clammy and gross when you're trying to sleep, it just soaks in and gets to work. I don't think I could be without this anymore! Love love love.

I'm a total sucker for anything that smells remotely nice, I really loved the original Jimmy Choo fragrance and this exotic twist is just as beautiful, I would have liked to have seen a different bottle to the original one, as this one is identical, just a different colour. But it smells utterly gorgeous, its a really summery, fruity fragrance that I just can't get enough of. If you liked the original Jimmy Choo perfume, you're bound to like this. Its a really fresh scent and dare I say... sexy! Perhaps quite heavy for a daytime fragrance, but perfect for evenings out.

Having used the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser for a while now, it seemed only natural to buy the Skin Tonic and use them together. I'm so glad I did, at first thought I did find the Skin Tonic smelled really lavendery (is that a word?!)... and I did think it was quite a mature scent, containing chamomile and cucumber, along with some vitamin E, its so refreshing on the skin. It felt really luxurious to apply and made my skin feel really refreshed and clean after applying. I'm yet to find another toner that I love as much as this, its a must buy if you love the Liz Earle Cleansers!

I know I'm a little late jumping on the Creme Cup bandwagon, I don't have a massive collection of lipstick, I tend to play it safe and I'm not very brave when it comes to trying new lip shades! With pale skin and blonde hair, I never know what to go for, I always seem to think bold colours make me look really washed out and just ridiculous. I'd seen Creme Cup on a few other blogs and all over instagram and decided to give it a try. I have a few other Mac lipsticks and found them quite dry, but the Cremesheen is really smooth and gives a lovely gloss to lips. Its a gorgeous shade, for daytime and evening wear, a really pretty, feminine dusky pink. I think its a definite must have for any girls lipstick collection!

This was a little treat for myself, I tend to go for luxury brands when buying products like mascara, as it's something I use every day without fail. This is my first YSL mascara, so I can't compare it to any of their existing ones. The Baby Doll brush is rubber, with two patents and is a revolutionary mix of wide-set bristles intermixed with finer ones, for superior definition. The application is really precise and I found that I didn't really get any mess or smudges, I really loved the rubber wand, it felt nice and sturdy and I think it made applying a little easier, my lashes were definitely longer and the colour was really intense. It lasted all day and I was really impressed that it didn't run all down my face, even after a few good cries! I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for something new to try. I'd definitely re-buy, but not after trying their Shocking mascara!

What are you all loving at the moment? What products can you simply not live without in the summer?

Lots of love

Hey Belles! The amazing Harriet from The Beauty Swatch has nominated me for the Leibster Award! This is Blush & Belle's very first award nomination since starting and I feel absolutely everwhelmed and excited!

If you've not heard of the Leibster Award, I know what you're thinking, what on earth is a 'Leibster'? Leibster is a German word meaning; sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. Cute hey? Blogging is all about building a community & its an amazing way to connect with other bloggers & spread the word about new blogs.

Here are the rules:

  • Each nominee should answer 11 questions from the person who nominated them
  • Choose 11 bloggers with under 200 followers to pass the award to and link them in your post
  • Tell them about their nomination

I'm not sure how well known it is but I really love Pretty Little Thing they have some really cute pieces & its really affordable!

If you could only buy from one brand for the rest of your life for beauty products
 which would it be?
I'd have to say Mac! I don't think I could ever tire of their products!

What do you do to get in shape for the summer?
I try and do some running when I can, but my main form of exercise is pole dance. I started it two years ago and love it. Its so much fun & an amazing way to work every muscle in your body!

Favourite brand of nail varnish?
Its close between Barry M and Essie, I really love Barry M's Gelly polishes, the shades are beautiful and they're really long lasting and chip resistant, I'm gonna have to go with Essie though!
Why did you start blogging?
I've always loved reading blogs and I've always really excelled at writing too, along with my passion for beauty products & for fashion, it just seemed to click. I started Blush & Belle in January 2013 and I've never looked back!

Celebrity wise, I love Mollie King from the Saturdays, her style is impeccable! She always looks amazing. I love Blake Livelys super chic, classy look and I really admire Miranda Kerr because she always looks absolutely stunning! I think Olivia from What Olivia Did always looks utterly amazing too!

 if you have one!
 Unbrushed, dry shampooed. Enough said!

What part of your body do you like the most? Come on gals lets be positive!
My super long legs! I'd like them to be more toned, but they definitely win for their length!
Where is your favourite place to be?
The countryside, I'm a total country bumpkin!

What is on your wish list right now?
I really want to treat myself to some new perfume as my Chanel Coco Mademoiselle has just run out! I'm thinking Chloe or Miss Dior. I'm really craving the Liz Earle moisturiser too, I love her products, they feel so absolutely amazing! I love the Clarins Lip Protection too! I'm also craving lots of summery dresses & floral prints!

I haven't quite found 11 blogs. Actually, I've found 4. 4 that I really love reading & I didn't want to pick loads of blogs for the sake of it.. So I'm nominating:

and here are my questions for you girls..

Whats your guilty pleasure?

What do you love to do when you're not blogging?

What inspires your blog?

Who do you look up to the most for your beauty and fashion choices?

What do you love most about blogging?

Whats your ultimate way to chill out?

Where do you feel most at home?

What are your staple beauty products that you just couldn't be without?

Where would you most like to travel to and why?

Do you have any really bad, embarrassing habits?

Early Bird or Night Owl?

Can't wait to read some of your answers!
